The 1980s: consolidation of the market at home

In the decade of the eighties, the company consolidated its presence throughout the country: Asturias, Andalusia, Galicia, Castile. A new phase of diversification of activities also began, with property and
aggregates.
From the mid eighties, the fast growth of road transport, which became saturated, led to a transformation of the railway which sought new functions, an area for action and new objectives as part of land transport. The main lines of the renewed railway opted very clearly for high speed, metropolitan and regional transport, and the intermodal transport of goods, marking the objectives of this stage of COMSA’s career.
