The 1930s and post-war period: the move to Barcelona and diversification


In the 1930s, the company moved its headquarters from Reus to Barcelona, and became a public limited company in February 1934, with the name Hijos de José Miarnau Navás, S.A.

During the Civil War, the company continued its activities as a collectivised company. From this period, the workshop and locomotive depots at Vilanova i la Geltru, and the marshalling and goods yard at La Sagrera in Barcelona are noteworthy. At the end of the conflict, it collaborated in the process to rebuild the country with outstanding works such as the suspension bridge over the River Ebro at Amposta.

During these years, the company diversified its activities in other areas of civil engineering with the building of bridges, roads, buildings, etc.
It was the decade of a progressive increase in work, which brought about the installation of quarries in various locations in Spain, situated near the railway lines to be able to offer a better service.
